Sarah Joy Byington
Sarah Joy Byington is an Actor, Write, Producer, and Director based in Austin TX working in Film, Television, and Commercial Production. Sarah approaches her work with a formidable foundation in acting, graduating from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in 2010. She then furthered her education by earning a certificate from the Center for Creative Media in 2012, studying Production Management and Producing in the 2-year intensive Production Management Track. Her breadth of industry knowledge continued to extend from her experience on set in Assistant Directing, Costuming, and Production Management. Today she is a multi-faceted Writer, Director, and Producer with a passion for story-telling and creating engaging content that deeply resonates with audiences.
As a Producer Sarah has honed her scheduling, budgeting and managerial skills working with multiple departments and department heads as well as clientele and talent. Having an organized, task oriented mindset has been key in her work to proactively trouble shoot problems and deliver results as a Field Producer, Supervising Producer, and Associate Producer on a wide variety of projects. Some highlights includes Supervising Producer on the documentary short North to Kansas: The Real Chisholm Trail (2018), Field Producer on the short film So You Wanna Make a Movie (2017), And Line Producer on the feature documentary Until Proven Innocent (2016).
In 2019 Sarah wrote and directed her short film Let Me Do Right By You which she funded through successfully running a fundraising campaign, raising over 111% of the campaign goal. This was accomplished with a well managed, effective social media campaign, planning and coordinating a silent auction event, and creating merchandise to sell based on the themes and messaging around the campaign for the film. The feature screenplay of the same title was an official selection for multiple film festivals including Rhode Island Film Festival, LA Femme International Film Festival, and more. Her written and directed commercial Payday was a semi-finalist in the 2016 Dorito’s Crash the Super Bowl competition.
In all of her work, Sarah’s unique approach starts with her deep roots as an actress. Graduating from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC, she went on to work in commercials for large brands like Toyota, UPS, Nelly’s Eggs and several more. Her work as an actress also consists of roles in many short and feature length films. A few of her film credits includes lead roles in The Night We Met (2019), Terror Birds (2016), and A Dog Walker’s Christmas Tale (2015), as well as supporting roles in Age Out (2018) and Parkland (2013). Some of her Television credits include Dead of Night (Snapchat Original), Murder Made Me Famous (REELZChannel), and Lee Harvey Oswald: 48 Hours to Live (History Channel).
